Job Summary
The CDL Class B driver delivers products to GBFB’s agency network within the Greater Boston area, operating Class B trucks, loading/unloading, maintaining compliant documentation, and interacting with network members. Responsibilities include safe vehicle operation, adherence to DOT/FMCSA regulations, accurate logging of travel and time, inventory verification, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and using material handling equipment (pallet jack; forklift a plus). The role requires strong communication, independent work with a scheduled plan, and adherence to safety and company policies; familiarity with E-Logs and refrigerated-truck operations is beneficial.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- current DOT Medical card
- excellent driving record
- 3 or more years of continuous Class B CDL driving experience
- knowledge of liftgates and reefers
- good written and verbal communication skills
- knowledge and experience with mobile technology on communication and E-Logs
- ability to drive Class B vehicles and perform multiple deliveries and pickups
- honesty and integrity in Food Bank tasks
- meticulous and responsible
- ability to collaborate in a diverse environment
- ability to work independently with problem-solving skills
- excellent organization and time-management skills
- excellent interpersonal skills
- electric pallet jack and forklift experience a plus
- experience with refrigerated truck is a plus
- ability to read and write in English; second language a plus
- ability to travel daily within Eastern Massachusetts
- pass background check and DOT drug and alcohol test
