Job Summary
Transport finished goods and raw materials between manufacturing plants, retail centers, and distribution centers using a 53ft truck, trailer, or box truck. Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure trailers, tractors, and bobtail trucks are clean. Work with management to plan delivery schedules, document driving time, and verify fuel receipts while complying with all driving rules and regulations. Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, collect delivery instructions, and report defects, accidents, or violations. Handle packages weighing up to 80 pounds and operate carts, dollies, and hand trucks to move merchandise. Work Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM with weekend coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class-A California driver license
- Proven work experience as a truck driver
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
- Experience driving Class-A vehicles
- Good hearing
- At least 20/40 vision with glasses or corrective lenses
- 70-degree field of vision in each eye
- Not colorblind
- Strong sense of spatial relations
- Ability to read and speak English well enough to understand road signs, prepare reports, and communicate with law enforcement officers and the public
- Must be available for weekends as needed
- Must be available for Monday-Friday 5:00AM- 3:30PM
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Experience within the food and beverage transportation industry preferred
- Warehouse experience preferred
