Job Summary
Operate a Class A tractor-trailer to transport food products between A&L warehouses and customer locations, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups according to pre-established schedules. Conduct thorough pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety and roadworthiness while adhering to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. Securely load and unload cargo, maintain accurate records of mileage and fuel use, and communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse staff to resolve operational issues. Provide exceptional customer service during client interactions and report any maintenance issues or accidents immediately. Maintain a valid CDL and DOT medical card, perform regular vehicle cleaning, and work Sunday through Thursday nights as a part-time hourly driver with a $1,500 sign-on bonus.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with a clean driving record and DOT Card
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a Class A tractor-trailer, preferably in the food industry or related field
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, including hours of service, and DOT compliance
- Ability to safely operate large vehicles in various road and weather conditions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment
- Must be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively to meet delivery deadlines
- Ability to lift and move products weighing up to and exceeding 50 lbs. (with appropriate lifting equipment)
- Strong attention to detail, safety-conscious, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Clean criminal background check and drug screening required
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods while operating a vehicle
- Strong vision and hearing abilities to ensure safe driving and situational awareness
- Requires stamina and endurance to meet demanding schedules and long driving hours
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy loads up to and exceed 50 lbs
- Must be available for work at night, weekends, and holidays, depending on delivery schedules
