Job Summary
Overhead Distribution Lineman – A Class responsible for climbing poles and performing distribution/transmission line work, including digging holes, setting poles, stringing wire, installing transformers and related equipment, operating service trucks, and responding to work orders. The role requires safety-focused execution in varied weather, ability to read and record data from meters, and upkeep of tools and equipment. Must possess math skills, basic knowledge of electrical theory, and be able to work outdoors, in diverse terrain, with a willingness to travel and work after hours as needed; candidates must have a valid Class A CDL, MVR/background checks, OSHA 10 certification, and completion of required training or four years of verifiable energized-work experience.
Required Qualifications
- Four (4) years of experience or equivalent hours
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License
- Must have a Valid Class A CDL and current medical examiner card
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be able to work outdoors in diverse terrain and in all weather conditions
- Must complete OSHA 10hr Safety Training Program within 60 days
- Completion of formal training program or at least four years of verifiable experience including three years of energized work
- Successful test completions on rigging, grounding, transformers, hot sticks, weights, and torques
- Completion of Insulate/Isolate Course
- Must have ability for frequent travel on needed training requirements and potential for overtime including storm work
