Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and service heavy-duty diesel equipment and related systems in a heated garage, inspect and test units, interpret prints and data sheets, train coworkers, ensure tool readiness, and comply with departmental and DOT requirements. Requires five years of journey-level experience in heavy duty diesel/automotive/aviation-marine repair, a high school diploma or GED, and a Class A CDL with passenger and combination endorsement. Perform all Class A Mechanic duties including inspection, removal, repair, replacement, testing, adjustment, diagnosis, and servicing of units and associated wiring using specialized tools and instruments; adhere to attendance, punctuality, and safety standards in a DOT-regulated environment.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of coach or truck mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair work
- Five years of experience in heavy duty diesel, automotive equipment or aviation/marine repair and maintenance as a journey level mechanic
- Must be able and willing to instruct co-workers to perform various operations
- Must be able to read prints and manufacturer's data sheets and make legible reports
- Must be able to properly operate and repair shop tools and plant equipment necessary to perform work
- High School Diploma or G.E.D and Class A Commercial Driver's License or Permit with passenger and combination endorsement are required
