Job Summary
Class A Lead Support Driver travels regionally to cover route drivers during vacations or absences, with occasional out-of-region support. Responsibilities include loading, hauling, and delivering food waste on intra- and interstate routes (15-25 stops per day), operating manual and automatic transmissions per DOT requirements, using pallet jacks, pressure washers for bin cleaning, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, basic equipment maintenance, maintaining DOT logs and paperwork, and reporting accidents to the safety manager. Requires adherence to safety standards, strong accountability, and ability to work safely in varied conditions. Preferred qualifications include extended driving experience and strong communication/customer service skills.
Required Qualifications
- Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance)
- Clean MVR and PSP
- Minimum age 23 with 2 years of verifiable full-time tractor-trailer experience OR 21 with 1 year if Truck Driving School graduate or 1 year Military experience
- Stable work history
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must pass pre-employment Background check
- Must be able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway signs and signals, respond to inquiries, and make entries on reports and records
