Job Summary
Class A Laborer on the Telecom Underground team performs highly skilled construction tasks, loads and delivers materials, loads and operates equipment, installs and maintains complex underground telecommunications cables, trains and mentors junior laborers, and supports supervisors with project plans and safety. The role emphasizes leading small workgroups, ensuring quality and safety, maintaining detailed project records, and addressing safety and operational issues proactively. Requires a valid Class A CDL, 3-5 years in underground telecom construction, ability to read blueprints and technical specs, and the stamina to work overtime in various weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- A valid Class A commercial driver's license
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- 3-5 years of experience in underground telecommunications construction or a related field
- Advanced knowledge of construction equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to interpret blueprints, job plans, and technical specifications
- Strong ability to work independently and provide support in team environments
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed
- Ability to work safely in all weather conditions
- Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: work alone in remote locations and in confined spaces with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
