Job Summary
Role Overview: Fleet Driver responsible for safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading CarMax vehicles between stores, auctions, vendors, and logistics hubs; ensuring on-time delivery to maintain inventory flow and customer satisfaction. Maintain a clean, well-kept truck and trailer; perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT and CarMax standards; keep accurate DOT logs; represent CarMax professionally with vendors, store staff, and the public; comply with safety regulations to minimize risk. Qualifications include a valid Class A CDL, at least 2 years of CMV driving experience (military experience considered), clean driving record with no major violations in recent years, ability to meet DOT/FMSCA qualifications, ability to lift heavy objects and operate a winch, proficiency with a 10-speed transmission, and willingness to work outdoors in varied weather. Location is Wilmington, NC and role is Night Shift.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the state
- 2+ years of Class A CDL driving experience (Military heavy/medium tactical vehicle experience considered)
- No preventable safety incidents in the past 2 years (validated by Safety & Compliance Team)
- Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past three years; must meet CarMax’s Driver Safety Evaluation criteria
- Ability to meet DOT & FMCSA qualification requirements
- Ability to lift heavy objects and operate winches during loading
- Proficiency in operating a 10-speed transmission and willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
