Job Summary
Conduct safety checks for road readiness and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Secure cargo using load bars, re-check stability throughout trips, and adhere to traffic safety regulations while reporting unsafe conditions to dispatch and authorities. Utilize GPS, CB radio, and cab computers to communicate route information and stay informed. Operate a Class A CDL with two years of experience, handling no-touch freight and avoiding backward loads. Travel OTR between Houston, TX, and southern, mid-west, and northwest states with pre-pass technology and no west coast routes.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Updated medical card (within six months)
- Have a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with two years of experience
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to communicate with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records
- No current CDL suspension or revocation
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and good DAC Report
- No tickets or accidents in the past three years
- Clean background
- Must pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to learn effectively and operate a GPS
- Must be able to use handheld technology and smartphone applications
- Ability to scale up to 44,000 pounds
- Ability to secure loads with straps
- Ability to perform pre and post-trip instructions
- Driver cannot do backward loads
- No loaded trucks parked at home or on the side of the road (ONLY AT A MAJOR TRUCK STOP)
