Job Summary
Delivery driver responsible for transporting lumber, building materials, hardware, and other building supplies to customers’ homes, construction sites, or places of business. Drives company vehicles, collects COD payments, verifies order details and obtains customer signatures, plans routes using GPS or maps, loads and unloads materials, maintains vehicle cleanliness and safety checks, and assists in yard duties when not driving. Maintains logs and records, provides courteous customer service, and adheres to safety standards and DOT/FMCSR requirements; may operate a forklift and participate in training programs.
Required Qualifications
- Be able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway signs and signals and to respond to official inquiries
- Hold a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle that is being operated
- Successful completion of on-the-job training; completing levels 1 and 2 of the positional training offered
- Must be 23 years of age or older
- Must have current and appropriate operator’s license for the equipment being operated or towed or the manner in which the equipment is used
- Must be qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under FMCSR rules, which includes having a current and unrestricted DOT physical card
- Regulated DOT Qualifications (if driving a commercial motor vehicle)
