Job Summary
Operate a commercial garbage truck on assigned routes to collect solid waste and recyclables, handling materials both mechanically and manually. Transport waste to designated disposal facilities while conducting routine vehicle inspections and reporting maintenance needs. Provide courteous service to customers and respond quickly to service issues, adhering to all DOT regulations and safety standards. Communicate regularly with dispatch and supervisors. Requires Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement, clean driving record, and minimum one year of commercial driving experience. Competitive hourly pay of $24–$26/hr with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement
- Clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience
- Experience operating a Class A or Class B vehicle with air brakes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- High commitment to working safely and following procedures
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
- Frequent industrial lifting, including lifting waste to waist level
- Constant walking and steady movement throughout the shift
- Occasional bending, gripping, and physical exertion
Desired Qualifications
- Solid Waste industry experience preferred but not required
- Knowledge of DOT rules and safety practices is a plus
