Job Summary
Class 2 Electrician responsible for the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures per VFP standards. Must possess knowledge of applicable electrical codes and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Provides working leadership to others in the department, offers suggestions for products, manufacturing procedures, and documentation improvements, and interprets control prints to hook-up all controls. Performs Electrician B duties when needed and must be able to read blueprints with minimal assistance. Duties include running conduit, installing wireway, wiring AC units, installing lighting fixtures, mounting and wiring transfer switches and generators, installing load centers and EVC boxes, drilling holes, and climbing ladders. Maintains good housekeeping in the work area and adheres to safety practices. Requires high school diploma or GED; Associate’s Degree or Certificate preferred and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years experience in electrical work
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Ability to read control prints and hook-up all controls
- Ability to run conduit, install wireway, wire AC units and install lighting fixtures
- Ability to mount and hook-up transfer switches and wire generators
- Ability to install load centers, EVC boxes, and drill holes
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to maintain good housekeeping practices
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present information to customers and employees
- Knowledge of safety precautions in electrical trades
