Job Summary
Drive company vehicles on scheduled routes to collect food waste and by-products from farms, restaurants, and supermarkets, while monitoring loads, unloading materials, and ensuring proper handling of specified risk substances. Operate all equipment safely, perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and maintain tools and spill response kits. Drive assigned vehicles to third-party vendors for repairs and maintenance, perform general plant tasks like sweeping and bin building, and provide relief driving during emergencies or shortages. Work overtime as instructed to minimize equipment downtime, report maintenance or equipment issues to the Fleet Maintenance or Dispatcher, and ensure sites are clean prior to and after departure. Perform shift work based on evolving business needs and adhere to strict safety protocols and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Class 1 Driver's Licence with a clean abstract
- Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
- Physically capable of lifting container lids, climbing ladders, and pull-on cable hooks, and other heavy tools on a frequent basis
- Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
- Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
- Full-time, permanent position for 40 hours per week
Desired Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in commercial truck driving or a similar environment
- Strong knowledge of the of surrounding areas
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with operating hydraulic equipment required
