Job Summary
Manage medical malpractice claims, including assignment of defense counsel, bill review, and investigation of claim files through medical record analysis and attorney correspondence. Prepare case evaluation reports for the Claims Review Committee and discretionary authority, while coordinating litigation activities such as discovery, mediation, and trial monitoring. Document all developments chronologically, code files, and update the database and On Base system. Handle hotline calls and assist management with special projects and Claims Specialist I training. Requires a Bachelor's degree, three years of medical malpractice claims experience, and a valid California driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
- Relevant legal and/or medical education background or the equivalent
- Minimum three years of medical malpractice claims management experience and/or one year CAP claims experience
- Valid California driver license
- Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities/deadlines
