Job Summary
Investigate and evaluate low-complexity third-party auto, casualty, and premises liability claims by initiating contact with insureds and involved parties within 24 hours of assignment. Gather documentation including police reports, medical records, and bills to assess coverage, liability, and potential recovery opportunities. Establish claim reserves, draft denial letters, negotiate settlements within assigned authority, and prepare necessary releases and agreements. Maintain active claim diaries, participate in file reviews, and stay current on industry developments. This role supports EMC's mission to improve lives through fair, timely claim resolutions for clients and insureds.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience
- One year of claims handling or insurance experience
- Low-complexity third-party auto, casualty, and premises liability claims handling experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Basic knowledge of the claims adjusting process
- Basic knowledge of insurance contracts
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic knowledge of legal aspects of court procedures affecting legal liability for all lines of insurance
- Good knowledge of computers, including claims systems
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Good investigative abilities
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work from home anywhere in the US
Desired Qualifications
- Claims handling or insurance experience strongly preferred
- AIC, INS or other insurance related certifications preferred
- Experience with low-complexity third-party auto, casualty, and premises liability claims
