Job Summary
Summary: Manages personnel in the unit to assure claim processing in a prompt, professional and efficient manner in accordance with company guidelines and procedures. May manage complex claim files. Reviews claim files providing direction and settlement authorization. Duties include directing examiners/adjusters, supervising staff, providing technical direction, managing litigation/subrogation/salvage for cost-effective returns, producing management reports, training staff, interpreting insurance contracts, conducting quality control, aligning with department goals, and coordinating with directors, attorneys, auditors, and regulators. Travel up to 20%; works primarily indoors with a normal office environment; confidential handling of information.
Required Qualifications
- 4-year degree from an accredited institution
- 10 years’ successful claims handling including advanced skills in coverage, investigation, negotiation, salvage and subrogation is a plus
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Supervisor or Manager is a plus
- 3-5 years’ experience with multi-line claims; heavy emphasis on Garage, Commercial Liability, Material damage claims and Commercial GL is a plus
- 3-5 years’ experience with multi-state responsibilities is a plus
- Experience with Excess and Surplus lines is a plus
- Resident adjuster’s license in North Carolina
- Non-resident adjuster’s license where required in the state where ACIC does business
