Claims Advisor - Bodily Injury

Job Summary
Manage a portfolio of bodily injury and casualty claims from initial notice through final resolution, confirming policy coverage, determining liability, and evaluating exposure. Investigate claim circumstances, collect and assess medical documentation, quantify claims, and establish appropriate reserves while maintaining accurate file documentation. Negotiate settlements with claimants, legal counsel, and stakeholders, participating in mediations, examinations for discovery, and arbitration proceedings as required. Analyze complex information to make sound, defensible claim decisions and communicate developments clearly to all interested parties. Work onsite for the first three months before transitioning to a hybrid arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Extensive experience handling bodily injury claims.
- Post-secondary education and/or completion of, or progress toward, a CIP or FCIP designation.
- Experience working with Commercial General Liability and Personal Liability policies.
- Demonstrated experience with mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to achieve positive outcomes in complex claim situations.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical documentation, and injury assessment.
- Knowledge of common injury types, treatment plans, and recovery timelines.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Must be available for onsite work for the first 3 months before transitioning to hybrid.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience handling multi-jurisdictional claims.
- Experience with Guidewire or similar claims management systems.
- Knowledge of Alberta automobile insurance legislation, the Traffic Safety Act, and Minor Injury Regulation.
- Advanced insurance designations or continuing professional development within the claims field.
