Job Summary
Investigate, evaluate, and resolve auto liability claims from first notice of loss through resolution, conducting scene inspections, witness interviews, and coordinating with independent adjusters and experts. Analyze liability and damages to issue reserve recommendations, negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys, and process cargo claims involving bills of lading and Carmack Amendment exposure. Maintain accurate, well-documented files with timely diary management and status updates while identifying subrogation, salvage, and fraud indicators. Communicate resolution strategies to policyholders and internal stakeholders. Requires 3–5 years of liability claims experience, active adjuster licensure, and proficiency with claims management systems.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of liability claims adjusting experience, primarily auto liability
- Active adjuster license(s) as required by state(s) of operation, or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe
- Strong working knowledge of liability investigation techniques, coverage analysis, and negotiation strategy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong file documentation habits
- Proficiency with claims management systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, or similar) and standard MS Office applications
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a diverse caseload under time-sensitive deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- commercial auto experience
- Prior cargo claims experience, including familiarity with Carmack Amendment liability and federal motor carrier regulations
- familiarity with Bills of lading, cargo insurance policies, and broker/carrier liability distinctions
- Freight loss and damage claim handling, subrogation, and recovery processes
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Industry designations such as AIC, SCLA, or similar
- Experience working with transportation, logistics, or trucking-focused insureds
