Required Qualifications

• •High school diploma or equivalent
• •AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on the ETS test
• •Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
• •Ability to meet the Physical Demands of the position
• •Pass a basic skills test
• •Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter
• •Pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting
• •CPI training must be obtained at the next available opportunity
• •Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
• •Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
• •Must attend in-service trainings or other meetings as required, as well as attend any training as directed by management
• •Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety
• •Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, fellow employees and management
• •Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery and continuous improvement
• •Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities
• •Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email
• •Must be first-aid certified or be willing to acquire first aid training as soon as possible
• •Physically able to lift students as needed (50 lbs.) or up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• •Ability to run quickly after students with elopement issues and be able to visually track individual student movement
• •Able and willing to feed and diaper children who are motoric and require assistance in the bathroom setting
• •Able to carry out prescribed instructional and behavioral management program
• •Able to model appropriate behaviors and to provide consistent behavior intervention procedures with student
• •Physically able to lift students as needed (50 lbs.) or up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• •Evidence of skill with Microsoft Office software
• •Evidence of patience and warmth in working with student and able to remain calm in crisis
• •Ability to be flexible and take direction; must be able to work independently
• •Ability to work successfully in team situations

Desired Qualifications

• •Bachelor's degree preferred
• •Training and experience in working with students within the autism spectrum
• •Able to recognize, manage, and implement behavior intervention strategies when appropriate
• •Able to maintain documentation of ongoing student behavioral data, and be able to report back to the IEP team
