Job Summary

Conduct small group reading instruction and administer assessments in the intervention room and classroom under direct supervision. Adapt instructional materials to student needs, maintain accurate records, and supervise students during recess and lunch. Provide clerical assistance, support students with catheterization and tube feeding, and ensure a safe, orderly learning environment. Work cooperatively with parents, staff, and students while following district policies and attending required trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on the ETS test
  • Must attach unofficial transcript proving AA or equivalent to application
  • Official transcripts of all levels of education, including high school, required within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position
  • Must pass a basic skills test
  • Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter
  • Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting
  • Must be able to assist with catheterization and tube feeding of student
  • Required academic skills to assist students (i.e. knowledge in sciences, language arts, math, reading and social studies)
  • Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
  • Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities
  • Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email
  • Must be willing to become first-aid certified if required
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds; must also be able to lift overhead
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to push or pull 18-26 lbs.

  • Must be able to twist and bend
  • Must be able to use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arm

  • Able to relate effectively with students who have a variety of needs and challenges and backgrounds
  • Willingness to attend building and district instructional trainings, protocols and procedures
  • Willing to follow all district policies and procedures, especially in the area of instruction and assessment
  • Positive evaluations and recommendations that support character and work ethic
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be self-disciplined and a self-starter
