Job Summary
Paraeducator in LifeSkills Classroom at Amistad Elementary School supports students with significant physical disabilities, working with special education staff to provide instructional support, diapering, feeding or tube feeding, lifting/positioning, potential medication administration with training, and documentation of student progress. Duties emphasize teamwork with the special education teacher and other paraeducators, along with assisting in various school settings to ensure student safety and learning progress, including supervision during recess and collaboration with specialists. Must uphold district policies and demonstrate professional communication, safety, and flexibility in a dynamic school environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have an AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on the ETS test
- Must attach unofficial transcript proving AA degree or equivalent to application
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position
- Must pass a basic skills test
- Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter
- Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting
- CPI training must be obtained at the next available opportunity
