Job Summary
Paraeducator in LifeSkills classroom at Amistad Elementary School supporting students with special needs; duties include carrying out educational instruction, diapering, feeding or tube feeding, lifting and positioning students, administering medication with training, keeping documentation to monitor progress, and performing all duties within Kennewick School District policies; collaborates with SPED teacher, other paraeducators, and specialists; requires HS diploma or equivalent and AA degree or equivalent college credits, ability to pass background checks and trainings, and physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance; 6.5 hours/day, 180 days/year, with potential hour adjustments.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have an AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on the ETS test.
- Must attach unofficial transcript proving AA degree or equivalent to application.
- Must pass a basic skills test.
- Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter.
- Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.
- CPI training must be obtained at the next available opportunity.
- Must demonstrate ability to communicate with students, parents, district staff, and other concerned people.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. or up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Must maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team and follow district policies.
