Civilian Police Academy

9-week interactive program organized by the Marion Police Department to foster understanding and partnerships between citizens and law enforcement. Classes meet Wednesday evenings at 6 pm for three hours from September 2 through graduation on October 28, with instruction from Marion Police Department members. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants and applications are processed on a rolling basis with screening beginning immediately; the program costs $20 and includes potential optional shadowing with 911 Dispatch and a patrol ride-along. Goals focus on strengthening community-policing through education and collaboration, enabling participants to engage with patrol operations, investigations, traffic enforcement, emergency response, and other law enforcement tasks.
