Job Summary
Operate excavators to strip material, load haul trucks, and stockpile with proper slopes on Vancouver-area development sites; grade soil with bulldozers, compact with vibratory drum equipment per geotechnical engineer recommendations, and perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance. Safely operate a street sweeper when needed, maintain equipment, and communicate on-site using radios. Demonstrate knowledge of soil types and site grading concepts, work closely with the team, and contribute to a fast-paced construction environment. This role requires self-motivation, safety-conscious practices, and the ability to handle various physical labor tasks as part of daily operations.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 Education
- 3 years of experience in civil construction operating heavy equipment
- Valid BC driver’s license
- Knowledge of site grading concepts
- Differentiating soil types
- Self-motivated and proactive planning abilities
- Ability to operate excavators, bulldozers, and vibratory drum compaction equipment
- Pre-operational checks and basic maintenance
- Safe operation around utilities
- Use of two-way radios and basic communication equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Grade 12 Education

- Ability to differentiate between soil types and select appropriate equipment and techniques
- Self-motivated with the ability to plan ahead
- CapWest experience or interest in North American civil construction projects

- Safe operation around utilities and municipal roads
- Strong communication via two-way radios
- Team-oriented with collaborative culture
