Job Summary
Civil/Structural Engineer sought to provide structural engineering consulting for a team focused on Critical Infrastructure Solutions. Responsibilities include performing structural engineering analysis and design of steel and concrete structures (hand calculations and finite element analysis), preparing technical reports and CAD drawings, reviewing drawings and calculations, executing moderately complex structural tasks, planning and coordinating projects of small to moderate scope, and supporting project managers and clients. Requires MS in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical engineering, 2–5 years of experience, EIT, proficiency with IBC/ASCE/ACI/AISC codes, experience with hand calculations or FE software, solid mechanics/steel/concrete/seismic design coursework, and strong communication and organizational skills. Desired qualifications include PhD, PE license, experience with ANSYS/ABAQUS/SAP2000/LS-DYNA/SASSI, MATLAB/Python/VBA, AutoCAD/Revit, and advanced engineering mechanics topics. The role operates in a Sacramento, CA base with possible consideration of other locations and involves safety and quality control adherence, client relations, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. Pay ranges by location are provided (Sacramento, Atlanta, Denver, San Diego, San Jose) and exact pay is commensurate with experience and location.
Required Qualifications
- MS in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Experience using structural engineering codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE, ACI, and AISC
- Demonstrated academic or professional experience using hand calculations and/or structural analysis computer software
- College coursework in solid mechanics, steel, concrete, seismic design, advanced structural analysis, vibrations or structural dynamics, and proficiency in finite element analysis software platforms
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills to complete assignments within budget and schedule
