Civil Structural Engineer (Forensic Engineering)

Job Summary
Conduct field investigations and analyze structural failures in residential, commercial, and industrial properties by determining causes, origins, and extents of defects. Perform site evaluations, foundation settlement studies, and vibration analysis while applying engineering principles per codes and standards. Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms documenting failure causes, loss extent, and remediation recommendations. Deliver professional presentations, manage client relations, and provide expert testimony in legal proceedings. Requires Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, seven years post-academic experience, and Texas P.E. registration. Involves 25% travel, lifting 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working at heights. S-E-A offers medical, dental, vision, company-paid vacation, HSA, and an on-site workout facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- A minimum of seven years of post-academic civil/structural experience
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing in Texas, or ability to obtain Texas P.E. within 6 months
- Must possess strong writing skills
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
- Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
- Ability to work at various heights on structures
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to drive in all conditions
- Ability to fly on airplanes
- Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
- Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
