Job Summary

Civil Structural Designer at Dashiell performs routine design assignments for high voltage substations, producing drawings (including substation layouts, elevation drawings, conduit and grounding drawings), calculating cable lengths and conduit fill, creating Substation Bill of Materials, and overseeing drafters. The role requires knowledge of civil/structural fundamentals, proficiency with AutoCAD (2010+), and familiarity with Microstation (V8/V8i). Travel for projects is required; extensive overtime may be needed. Candidates should have five+ years of structural substation design experience (Associate’s degree in drafting & design preferred), be comfortable working in a team, and possess knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, AISC, ACI). The position may place a candidate at Designer I, II, or III based on skill, with responsibilities including ensuring quality and accuracy, and identifying potential project-related issues.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years experience in structural substation design, or related experience is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to effectively convey information to team members, management, and clients when necessary.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.
