Job Summary
Interpret codes, vendor data, and specifications to produce civil and structural designs for facilities, testing, and manufacturing processes. Develop material takeoffs, estimate costs, and analyze engineering proposals for industrial machinery while determining facility modification feasibility. Operate AutoCAD and computer-assisted design software to generate plans, specifications, and construction schedules. Provide technical information to field construction teams regarding manufacturing techniques and material properties. Maintain awareness of industry developments through technical publications and resolve design problems using analytical and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- 4-10 years of work experience
- 8-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- 15+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- Associate degree in engineering technology, electrical design, or related degree from an accredited institution and 10+ years of experience
- 17+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- Associate degree in engineering technology, electrical design, or related degree from an accredited institution and 15+ years of experience
- 20+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- 15+ years of experience with significant Lead Designer role
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Math skills sufficient to: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and current versions of AutoCAD design software

- Applicable Arctic/cold weather experience
- 3-D modeling experience
- Experience working with Advance Steel
- Experience working with IBC, AWS, ASCE, and AISC
- Field specific design experience
