Job Summary
Interpret codes, procedures, and specifications to produce Civil/Structural designs conforming to applicable standards. Analyze complex vendor data and drawings for conformance, initiating resolution of problems as needed. Develop material takeoffs and estimates while utilizing computer-assisted design software, including AutoCAD, to perform design tasks. Analyze engineering proposals and process requirements for industrial machinery and equipment design, determining feasibility of modifying existing facilities. Provide technical information to field construction regarding manufacturing techniques, materials, and process advantages. Study engineering publications to maintain awareness of industry developments and aid in preparing reports, specifications, and construction schedules.

- Associate degree in engineering technology, electrical design, or related degree from an accredited institution

- 15+ years of experience with significant Lead Designer role

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Math skills sufficient to: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and current versions of AutoCAD design software

- Experience working with IBC, AWS, ASCE, and AISC
- Field specific design experience
