Civil Project Engineer

Job Summary
Lead engineering analysis, design calculations, and reports for site improvements, utility piping systems, and hydrology/hydraulic projects. Prepare project drawings, specifications, and proposals while assisting with construction tasks such as responding to RFIs, visiting job sites, and coordinating design revisions. Mentor staff engineers and present technical updates to clients and internal teams. Manage plan reviews, permit applications, and zoning evaluations, and actively participate in public meetings to stay current on regulations. This full-time role requires a Michigan P.E. license and 5 years of experience, with limited travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Michigan P.E. License or ability to obtain
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience showing progressively increasing responsibility
- In-depth experience using AutoCAD for land development applications
- Working knowledge of typical computer software programs used for civil engineering design and management (Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Self-motivated and responsible
- Ability to work collaboratively on a project team
- Ability to plan ones' own time and demonstrate good time management skills
- Ability to problem-solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently and exercise sound engineering judgment
- Ability to work on several projects concurrently, prioritize work load and cope with tight timelines to meet all deadlines without compromising quality
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to shape communications for specific audiences, and be able to accept and receive feedback
- Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for noticing small errors on engineering designs
- Must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
