Job Summary
Civil Highway Engineer responsible for roadway and site-civil design, highway and bridge projects, traffic engineering analysis, and transportation planning studies. Develop design criteria, horizontal/vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation details. Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews and client feedback. Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates; implement 3D CAD modeling; produce technical reports, tables, and graphics per client/internal AECOM standards. Adhere to quality procedures, complete interdisciplinary technical reviews, and contribute to staffing decisions to meet client scope, schedule, and budget. Prepare presentations to explain technical findings and recommendations, and collaborate with a larger design team to deliver projects within scope and schedule. Provide support to project/department managers. Minimal travel of up to 5-10% for client meetings or site visits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering degree
- Four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
- Experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or similar design highway/transportation design applications
- Design experience with PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects
- Demonstrated ability to mentor staff
- Ability to operate within a hybrid work schedule environment with hybrid teams
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in any state, or ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hire
- ABET-accredited degree
