Job Summary
Civil Foreman at Ames Construction leads on-site field operations for heavy highway and civil construction projects. Supervises crews safely and efficiently, interprets project plans and specifications, assists with scheduling to meet production goals, oversees excavation activities, applies survey/grade staking, and ensures timely submission of daily foreman reports and crew timecards. Acts as a key liaison between field crews and project management, with a focus on safety, leadership, communication, and problem-solving in outdoor construction environments. May require extended hours and travel between job sites; PPE is mandatory at all sites. Equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a foreman or supervisor in the Heavy Highway/Civil Construction industry
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and safe construction practices
- Strong familiarity with heavy equipment operations and construction tools
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Proficient with power and non-power hand tools and construction equipment
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift up to 50 lbs
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong leadership and motivational skills
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify and address discrepancies
