Job Summary
Review tender documentation, engineering drawings, and specifications to analyze project scope, commercial risks, and opportunities. Complete accurate quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, and overheads. Source and evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing, and maintain relationships to support future tenders. Develop competitive tender submissions, identify cost-saving opportunities, and assist with post-tender clarifications and project handovers. Maintain historical pricing databases and review completed projects to improve estimate accuracy. This independent contractor role aligns with Australian business hours (9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration. Candidates require 2+ years of Australian civil construction estimating experience, proficiency in Excel, and the ability to work autonomously in a fully remote environment.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Civil Estimator within the Australian civil construction industry
- Demonstrated experience preparing end-to-end civil tenders independently
- Strong understanding of Australian civil construction methodologies and estimating practices
- Proven experience completing detailed quantity take-offs from engineering drawings
- Ability to interpret civil drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and tender documentation
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess project risks and pricing strategies
- Experience obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote environment

Desired Qualifications
- Experience using civil estimating software (such as Expert Estimation, Benchmark, Candy, CostX, Cubit, Buildsoft, or similar)

- Knowledge of Western Australian civil construction practices and supplier networks
- Experience working remotely with Australian construction businesses
