Civil Engineering Team Lead - Land Development

Job Summary
Coordinate directly with Department Heads and Project Managers to identify team priorities, deliverables, and submittals for land development projects. Plan, organize, and review all team activities, including QA/QC, while maintaining staff utilization targets and mentoring Project and Design Engineers. Lead project portions as a Production Lead, demonstrating advanced technical skills to manage multiple projects, control budgets, and ensure accurate designs through rigorous review of construction plans and models. Evaluate individual staff capabilities, conduct performance reviews, and sign/seal drawings under supervision. Manage client interactions, regulatory compliance, and proposal support while optimizing workflows and driving continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Valid Colorado PE License (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of applicable civil engineering experience
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage/mentor junior staff and work well in teams
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical, influencing, facilitation, and negotiation
- Ability to work effectively on a collaborative team with management and non-management level members to accomplish objectives under pressure
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to exercise independent judgment and take action appropriate to the situation
- Make sound decisions quickly, while managing priorities and resources in a dynamic environment
- Strong technical expertise in the Civil Engineering design of Land Development projects
- Experience in project planning, resource and budget estimating, understanding and working to standards of quality and safety as required
- Well organized and articulate (verbal & written); must be able to prioritize and execute effectively
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated design software
- Broad multi-disciplinary knowledge in civil engineering including land development, transportation, water resources, wastewater, structural, and geotechnical topics
- High level knowledge of discipline-related software programs and ability to interpret and summarize technical results and concepts
- Experience with regulatory agencies, with familiarity with federal, state, and local policies. This includes typical review & approval processes
- Must be able to engage current and potential clients in a professional manner which positively represents the company
- Know when to negotiate or escalate situations in order to reach mutually beneficial agreements
- Explain complex information simply, verbally and in writing
Desired Qualifications
- Valid Colorado PE License (preferred)
- May include technical knowledge with hydrology, hydraulics, utility design and associated modeling software (StormCAD, CUHP, EPA SWMM, and HEC-RAS experience preferred)
- Must demonstrate ability to work effectively on a collaborative team with management and non-management level members to accomplish objectives under pressure
