Job Summary
Create or modify civil and structural design documents and drawings for projects under direct supervision. Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations and structural analysis with minimal supervision. Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge in substation construction and design. Apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI while mastering the document management system and corporate practices. Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of all work submitted. Bring potential project-related problems and proposed solutions to the attention of responsible parties. Travel out of town for short periods as required by assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
- Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Power focus
- Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field
- Knowledge of steel and concrete design
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis
- Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
- Working in a team environment
- Communicating effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc.
