Job Summary

Create or modify civil and structural design documents and drawings for projects under direct supervision. Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations and structural analysis with minimal supervision. Apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI while mastering the corporate document management system and standard engineering practices. Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge in substation construction and design, and bring potential project-related problems and solutions to the responsible party. Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work, double-checking calculations and drawings before submission. Travel out of town for short periods as required by project assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

  • Power focus
  • Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field
  • Knowledge of steel and concrete design
  • Basic knowledge of structural analysis
  • Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
  • Working in a team environment
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc.
