Job Summary
Support field construction quality control activities by assessing and evaluating project materials including soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials. Assist engineering staff in performing field evaluations and quality control testing while adhering to project specifications. Work closely with SME Team Members and contractors to learn construction techniques and gain exposure to geotechnical engineering, environmental remediation, and pavement design. This full-time co-op role runs from mid-May to late November 2027 in Michigan, Ohio, or Indiana. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license, possess a good driving record, and be able to lift up to 60 pounds. The program includes an orientation period, on-the-job training, and benefits such as a housing stipend, provided vehicle, and tuition reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- Previously completed a Co-op with SME
- Good driving record
- Must be able to comfortably lift and carry equipment and samples weighing up to approximately 50 - 60 pounds
- Ability to work outside, at construction project sites, in various weather conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop and/or kneel for long periods of time
- Must be able to walk and work on uneven ground/terrain
- Valid driver's license
- Experience driving in the U.S.
