Job Summary
Civil/Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 15 years of public- or private-sector experience and a current P.E. license (WA, OR, ID) leads client-side projects from planning through closeout, coordinating with multiple disciplines, reviewing plans and reports, and guiding grant management, proposals, and contracts. Acts as a client liaison, presents at hearings, mentors staff, and coordinates with RH2 and client teams while performing work remotely from a client’s office or RH2 office; strong emphasis on project management, regulatory understanding, design standards, and effective communication with stakeholders. Compensation range reflects base hourly rate equivalents and eligibility for overtime and bonuses, with a robust benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- Current P.E. license in the states of Washington, Oregon, and/or Idaho
- Minimum of 15 years of transferable skills and experience in the public or private sectors
- Experience in water, wastewater, transportation, environmental, and/or stormwater planning and design projects
- Experience in project management, preferably in a public works, development services, or consulting role
- Strong understanding of engineering design, construction processes, and regulatory environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and clients simultaneously
- Collaborative, adaptable, and client-focused mindset
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with local and regional design standards and codes
- Ability to work independently and apply sound professional judgement
- Strong aptitude for problem solving that requires adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word at an intermediate skill level, and Bluebeam preferred.
- Microsoft Project preferred at an intermediate skill level
- PDF editing software experience at an intermediate skill level
