Job Summary
Conduct on-site inspections for assigned projects as the Special Inspector of Record, evaluating steel construction, welding, concrete, masonry, and foundation work against design specifications and codes. Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting observations and findings while collaborating with contractors and design engineers to resolve non-compliance issues. Ensure all structural systems and materials adhere to applicable regulations and industry standards. Maintain current knowledge of structural engineering practices and verify site soil conditions and load-bearing requirements. This full-time on-site role at Naval Support Facility Indian Head, MD, requires a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with five years of related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in construction inspection and structural engineering
- Knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation construction practices
- Experience with nondestructive testing and verification of load-bearing requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple inspection responsibilities
- This is an on-site role in Indian Head, MD
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
