Job Summary
Civil Engineer with 7+ years of experience serving as a Resident Project Representative, overseeing on-site construction of water control structures and pump stations. Responsibilities include daily on-site observation and reporting, coordination with project teams and contractors, review of civil/structural/mechanical plans and specifications, evaluation of submittals (including RFIs), QC/QA data review, participation in weekly progress meetings, and recommending corrective actions. Ensures adherence to ASTM methods for earthen materials, ACI QC/QA methods, and USACE guidance for water-control infrastructures. Must be capable of independent work, and travel to the project site is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering with construction observation/inspection
- Experience with large-scale civil projects involving water control structures and/or pump stations or heavy civil projects
- Strong ability to interpret and comprehend large civil/structural/mechanical plan sets and specifications
- Experience with USACE construction processes, including Definable Features of Work (DFOW) QC systems
- Knowledge of ASTM testing methods for earthen materials, and ACI methods for concrete QC/QA
- Familiarity with USACE Engineering Manuals and other guidance related to water control structures and pump stations
- Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with project teams
- Daily travel to the project site (approximately 40 minutes each way)
- Company truck provided for travel to and from the site
