Civil Engineer - Land Development Forensic Investigator

Job Summary
Investigate civil engineering and land development incidents by analyzing procedures, assessing decision-making, and critically evaluating operational standards. Deliver clear, scientifically sound reports and provide expert testimony while safely inspecting sites, including climbing ladders, roofs, and scaffolding. Work approximately 20% of the time on travel for inspections, with the remainder dedicated to analysis and report drafting. Collaborate with highly respected experts from industry and academia to apply deep industry knowledge to challenging forensic casework consequential to society.
Required Qualifications
- Active P.E. license
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in land development and/or extensive site/civil/heavy construction project management
- Experience with safety requirements and issues on construction sites
- Design experience
- Thorough working knowledge of contracts
- Thorough working knowledge of safety
- Thorough working knowledge of construction means & methods
- Thorough working knowledge of scheduling
- Thorough working knowledge of estimating
- Thorough working knowledge of subcontractor management
- Thorough working knowledge of quality control
- Excellent technical and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to safely climb/navigate ladders, roofs, scaffolding, etc. for inspection activities
- Approximately 20% travel for inspections
- Clean background screen
- Driver's license
- Ability to drive
