Job Summary
Civil Engineer position with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Responsibilities include executing, coordinating, and assisting in the preparation of project design plans, specifications, and bidding documents; reviewing contractor submissions for technical adequacy; coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and utilities; conducting site visits and inspections; reviewing design changes; providing technical engineering guidance; developing project justification documents including cost estimates and materials lists; maintaining project records; preparing environmental and site reports; and identifying infrastructure projects. Requires extensive knowledge of civil engineering principles, familiarity with federal/state/local laws and regulations, proficiency with CAD, effective communication, willingness to travel, and a BS in civil engineering or related field with at least five years of experience; an advanced degree can substitute for some experience; and a Licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana may be required for certain assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of five (5) years of responsible civil engineering work experience
- Knowledge of construction and engineering principles; ability to analyze complex designs and evaluate changes
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Proficiency with CAD drafting for designing
- Willingness to travel
- Master's or Doctorate substitutions may substitute for work experience as described
- Registration as a Professional Engineer may be required based on assignment
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
