Job Summary
Civil Engineer I- Transportation participates in collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, and other matrices for the design, development, and construction of transportation infrastructure projects in the public and private sectors. The role supports basic professional civil engineering work, conducts feasibility and conformance checks with applicable rules and permits, generates documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks, and adheres to safety guidelines. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or closely related discipline), 0 to 1+ years of relevant experience, and fundamental knowledge of design/build concepts, environmental and construction regulations, and discipline-specific design software. Occasional travel may be required, and the role emphasizes independent work and teamwork within a supervised framework.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline
- 0 to 1+ years of relevant post education experience
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset
- Basic understanding of process and concepts for design/build
- Basic understanding of relevant environmental and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
