Job Summary
Perform detailed calculations to establish construction standards and specifications for electrical construction projects, focusing on designing civil engineering documents for clean energy ground mounted electric vehicle charging infrastructure and photovoltaic projects. Plan layout of construction projects, develop initial site feasibility studies, and create storm water plans and calculations. Coordinate local surveyors for topographic and GPR surveys, manage soil samples, and develop engineering plan documents using Autodesk Revit, AutoCad, or Microstation. Conduct detailed site plans to meet local municipal codes and write engineering Request For Proposal to coordinate with contractors for complete permit drawing sets. Work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, though work may be performed at any time to meet business needs. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering required, with a preference for Professional Engineer status.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Ability to apply principles of mechanics, mathematics, physics, material science, 3D concepts to creative problem-solving
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- 0-25% Travel
- Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday
- Must be able to perform work at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs
- Must be able to perform detailed calculations to compute and establish construction standards and specifications
- Must be able to plan layout of construction projects
- Must be able to learn and develop discipline best practices, technical knowledge, and current industry design standards
- Must be able to focus on designing civil engineering documents for clean energy ground mounted electric vehicle charging infrastructure and/or ground mounted photovoltaic projects
- Must be able to perform other related duties as required and assigned
- Must be able to contract local surveyors for topographic and GPR surveys
- Must be able to utilize familiarity with easement documentation, including zoning and permitting requirements
- Must be able to collect information from utility structure logs
- Must be able to coordinate soil samples
- Must be able to understand and document setbacks
- Must be able to create or assist in the development of engineering plan documents using Autodesk Revit, AutoCad, or Microstation
- Must be able to coordinate with designers including redlines, markups, and progress sets
- Must be able to develop initial site feasibility studies
- Must be able to create storm water plans and calculations
- Must be able to determine parking space requirements
- Must be able to design ADA/Accessible parking space
- Must be able to create grading drainage, erosion control plans including details and sections meeting all state and jurisdiction having authority standards
- Must be able to create SWPPPs as necessary for larger project sites
- Must be able to work with team to develop detailed site plans to meet local municipal codes
- Must be able to research and obtain building permit requirements as they pertain to parking lot design and modifications
- Must be able to write engineering Request For Proposal and coordinate with engineering contractors to deliver complete permit drawing sets
- Must be able to prepare and study technical drawings/specifications to ensure that designs/installations conform to standards & customer requirements
- Must be able to perform other related duties as required and assigned
- Must pass a background and drug test
- Must be eligible for E-Verify
