Job Summary
Conduct fieldwork including dam and levee safety inspections, planning, and observing subsurface explorations and instrumentation installations. Review subsurface information to develop input parameters for geotechnical analyses and execute engineering analyses such as seepage, slope stability, and finite element modeling. Assist in the design of dam and levee rehabilitation projects, waterfront structures, and stream restoration efforts while preparing construction plans, technical specifications, and contractor work plan submittals. Write technical memos and reports summarizing analyses, results, and recommendations. Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and team members, and assist with proposal development and internal project management. Occasional out-of-town travel is required.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil Engineering
- 4 to 10 years of engineering experience
- Solid understanding of civil and geotechnical engineering principles
- Passion to work on dams and levees
- Strong communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Organizational skills
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency
- Consistent means of transportation to/from project sites
Desired Qualifications
- MS in Civil Engineering with geotechnical focus
- Experience or academic training with geotechnical computer software packages such as GeoStudio applications
- 4+ years of professional work experience involving dams or related structures
- AutoCAD proficiency
- GIS proficiency
- Experience with the municipal/state work
- Experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers
- Experience with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
- Occasional out-of-town travel
