Job Summary
Civil/Structural Engineer responsible for civil and architectural engineering for onshore/offshore wind and solar plants in Japan and overseas; manage site investigations, basic design, estimation specifications, and contractor selection (EPC); coordinate with regulatory authorities; oversee detailed design and construction management by EPC contractors; supervise wind turbine and support structure design (towers, foundations) and seismic design; evaluate acquisition projects and perform technical investigations; travel approx. 25% to domestic and overseas sites; target projects include development of both domestic and international wind/solar facilities; work from Tokyo HQ with up to 60% telecommuting; opportunities for relocation to domestic or international sites; contribute to Japan’s carbon neutrality initiatives; favorable autonomy in upstream operations and exposure to large-scale projects; 60% remote work policy; competitive compensation; English requirement for operations and collaboration; TOEIC 650 required for promotion after joining (candidates below this score at entry welcome)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) majoring in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Construction management/supervision experience AND practical experience in structural design or design supervision (including seismic design) for civil/architectural infrastructure or marine structures (1–2+ years)
- Proactive attitude and willingness to engage in business operations using English
- Structural design experience including earthquake response analysis (architectural structural design experience also welcome)
- Plant engineering experience
- Vendor/contractor management experience (design, procurement, construction management, etc.) from owner or prime contractor perspective
- Certifications such as Professional Engineer (Japan) / Associate Professional Engineer, First-Class Registered Architect, Concrete Engineer, Concrete Diagnostic Engineer, or First-Class Civil/Architectural Construction Management Engineer
- English proficiency (TOEIC 650 points or higher)
- Experience in power producers, general contractors, construction consultants, utility companies, heavy industry/electrical manufacturers, or engineering firms
