Job Summary

Review and check design documents and deliverables from contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes. Originate, assess, and provide advice on construction designs, engineering drawings, and soil and foundation mechanics. Evaluate contracted work for quality and adherence to plans, specifications, and safety requirements. Make on-site inspections of construction sites to resolve technical issues and determine solutions for potential problem areas. Track project progress and contractual change orders using various reporting mechanisms. This role supports the SFHP project near Idaho Falls, delivering designs to construction completion and commissioning. Candidates must work onsite at the Idaho National Lab daily if needed and possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with experience from concept through detailed design.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of experience in the civil engineering field
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited program
  • Certified Engineer in Training (EI) in Idaho working towards obtaining Professional Engineering licensure
  • Demonstrated experience working on a range of projects from concept through detailed design
  • Knowledge of design, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness
  • Familiarity with ASCE, ACI, ASTM, ASME, and IBC codes
  • Ability to understand and follow established Amentum quality procedures
  • Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
  • Competent using Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work onsite at Idaho National Lab daily if needed
  • US citizenship
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug and background check
  • Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting
  • Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc.
  • Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation
  • Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same
  • Must be alert to equipment in the field
  • Occasional travel
  • Work near construction job site equipment when in the field
  • Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery
  • Occasional need to walk on uneven ground
  • Exposure to dust, gas or fumes
  • Exposure to noise
  • Extremes in temperature or humidity
  • Potential work at heights

Desired Qualifications

  • Able to lead groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules
  • Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) standards and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations
  • Master's degree is a plus
  • Professional Engineering License a plus
