Civil CAD Technician

Job Summary
Create plans, schematics, and 3D surfaces using AutoCAD Civil 3D to support civil engineering projects. Modify drawings for interim work surfaces, prepare quantity take-offs with Trimble Business Center, and process point clouds into Digital Terrain Models. Coordinate with project managers and estimators to understand requirements, conduct quality control checks, and maintain organized filing systems. Prepare drafts for stakeholder approval and suggest value engineering solutions. Collaborate with teams to meet proposal and project deadlines while staying current with drafting tools. This full-time, office-based role requires occasional site visits and 25% travel.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including 2D and 3D drafting, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering standards, and map projections
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members, engineers, and clients
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines
- Capable of identifying issues with designs and proposing solutions to resolve them
- 4+ years of experience working as a CAD Operator or in a similar design/drafting role, with required experience in civil construction or civil engineering
- Must have and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License with driving record that meets Saiia's risk management guidelines
- Estimated travel requirement 25% of time
Desired Qualifications
- Diploma, or Associate's or bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred
