Job Summary
Schnabel's Boise, Idaho office seeks a Civil 3D CAD Designer with 3+ years of experience to support an engineering group across civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines. The role involves developing 3D grading, terrain, and models using AutoCAD Civil 3D, producing 2D contract drawings (plans, profiles, sections, details), coordinating with engineers to deliver coordinated and constructible designs, taking initiative to contribute design input beyond redlines, maintaining CAD standards and files, creating graphics for reports and proposals, and engaging in professional development. Projects span dam-related and infrastructure work across the United States, including dams, spillways, intakes, pipelines, fish hatcheries, and related facilities. Competencies include proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, ability to manage large drawing sets from survey data and GIS, and collaboration across multiple disciplines.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of CAD design experience supporting civil engineering projects, including site development, grading, drainage, and plan/profile production
- High school diploma (or equivalent) with additional degree or certification in Drafting and Design Technology, or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency with the latest version of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment screening
- Experience with Revit is preferred
- Experience in additional software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, SolidWorks, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor, Bluebeam, or Excel is a plus
- Self-motivated and proactive in solving problems and completing work with minimal supervision
