Job Summary
Civil 3D CAD Designer responsible for turning complex survey data into precise grading plans, cross sections, and profiles for environmental and infrastructure reclamation projects in the Appalachian region. Deliver error-free design packages balancing earthwork volumes while addressing topographical challenges. Core duties include advanced surface modeling and grading, earthwork optimization, hydrologic & hydraulic design, erosion and sediment control planning, base-map production from topographic surveys and LIDAR, and the assembly of full construction document packages (plans, profiles, cross sections, detail sheets). Requires an associate’s degree (or equivalent hands-on experience) and 3–10 years of civil CAD production experience, with proficiency in Data Shortcuts and Xrefs, ability to read site plans and markups, and effective collaboration with engineers and project teams.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- 3-10 years of civil CAD production experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply site plans, grading concepts, engineering markups, and redlines
- Experience preparing detailed site grading and earthwork drawings (layouts, slope transitions, profiles, cross sections)
- Experience developing and managing grading surfaces for constructible site designs with proper drainage
- Proficiency using Data Shortcuts and Xrefs, and applying object and label styles to maintain drafting standards
- Experience updating drawings based on redlines and design changes while supporting permitting packages for local and state agencies
- Ability to coordinate constructability challenges and provide project support
- Commitment to Atlas health and safety policies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team collaboration with engineers and project teams
